FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Springfield, MO. (August 30, 2022)  The Springfield Art Museum will be closed Monday, September 5 through Saturday, September 10 in observance of the Labor Day holiday, staff training, and preparation for new public hours of operation.

The Museum is shifting hours to remain open later during weekdays to provide more options for visitors and better serve the community. “Later hours during the week will allow the Museum to build its presence in the ‘nightlife’ of the community, attracting people who might attend after the traditional working hours of 9 to 5,” said Museum Director Nick Nelson. “We hope to further cement the Museum as a destination for education, entertainment, and as a gathering place for our community.”

The hours change also provides the Museum with the opportunity to expand programming hours for classes and other events during the week. Weekend hours will remain unchanged. In addition to the shift in hours, the Museum will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays for internal work, such as exhibition installation and maintenance, class and program preparation, facility maintenance, and staff training.

The Museum reopens to the public on Sunday, September 11 with the following hours of operation:

Sundays: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Mondays & Tuesdays: CLOSED
Wednesdays – Fridays: 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Saturdays: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

The Springfield Art Museum is located at 1111 East Brookside Drive Springfield, MO 65807. Admission is always free. Donations are gratefully accepted.
